Goodgym Barnet and members of the local community came together to do a little pick at the new baby Tiny Forest at Mutton Brook (Henlys corner.) We gathered for an initial chat about the future schedule of events set up by earthwatch. We will be monitoring carbon capture, water levels, habitats and biodiversity. The results will be collated and analysed through the Tiny Forest national web platform. It is hoped that we can engage more conversations around the positive effects of such woodland planting in an urban environment.

Do look up!
Our litter pick was fruitful with some particularly interesting examples. The highlight being a rubber tire which provided the pun headline and a play thing for Gus!
thanks for engaging in this community project and helping to improve our environment.
you did good!

Daniel wrote Thank you to everyone who came to the litter pick today! Great turnout! We found tires, traffic cones and tennis rackets! And collected 17 bags of rubbish for the Great British Spring Clean! The TF is coming along nicely.. some trees have started to sprout leaves! It has got a bit dry lately but all is looking well. Keep your eyes peeled for another event next month, around biodiversity! As always, if you have any ideas about events we can organise around the Tiny Forest, do let us know.

Five GoodGym members came together for a circular walk to the greenbelt and Darlands nature reserve. We gathered at Stephens house and gardens and introduced ourselves. welcome to Gemma on her first outing with GoodGym. We stopped at various points on the walk north visiting sites where GoodGym had helped with community activities. This included Stephens house and gardens, Finchley way open space, and St Mary‘s church. We stopped halfway for teas, coffees and a little bit of Gemma‘s cake. ( thank you) After walking through a couple of fields we eventually arrived at Darlands nature reserve and it’s lake. We stopped for frequent photos, tree hugging and a little bit of yoga before heading back to Finchley. Thanks for coming along. I hope you enjoyed stretching your legs and having a chat.
don’t forget to click on the links and support each other for future activities.

Loads of GoodGym members independently or in pairs spent some of May clearing up their local area of litter. It’s social, bizarrely satisfying and a good deed. Well done!
if you’re not using a litter picker your local council may well give you one if you ask. Worth a try as it makes life a lot easier. Thank you to those who sent in photos.

Sharon earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Sharon completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Sharon was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Two GoodGym members helped at Stephen‘s house and gardens Christmas lights event. Spread over three nights this was the last evening with families coming to enjoy the spectacular light show. Sharon dressed as an elf helped guide the families through the park.
