Windsor and Maidenhead Report written by Mandy Driver
Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ Adam, Zoe and Didem met Mandy at the task where Mandy had just met the task owner Daniel.
For tonights community mission we were back at Achieving for Children - Family Hub Service in Hanover Way.
Twas a dark and stormy ๐๐จnight on our first visit but even then the Windsor GGs did lots to clear the area and weed etc but we couldnโt paint the bench so we were back to finish the job on a sunny autumn evening โ๏ธ๐
Sue had previously laid some grass seed which had taken well so we trimmed that but some pesky weeds had grown back so Didem and Mandy tackled those first in the grass, the steps and front of the building while Adam and Zoe rubbed down the bench and step. Then it was time to paint after having a good inspection of each paint pot for the best consistency and giving it a good stir with a trusty stick found by Didem.
It is a small area but there was no standing still. Oh no instead while waiting there was squatting, lunging and plenty of โguess if my bum ๐ is clenched or not clenchedโ game ๐คฃ lots of chit chat and an update on the latest phone tech from Adam.
After the task there was a game of beach ball catch to play and a couple of rounds of jumping jacks to improve our butts.
Donโt forget those before and afters photos ๐ ๐คฃ and letโs see the results next year!
We handed back to the task owner the brushes and paint and said our goodbyes with a curtsy and bow.
Thank you all for the giggles ๐คฃ ๐คฃ๐๐ป๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ and completed task!

Tonightโs task was to help Raggy Rd allotments with a gardening based task.
We met at Salt hill park with 6 people signed up. Two met us directly at the task location and four of us ran down the 1km route to Ragstone Rd
On arrival Mona was ready in waiting to give us the low down of the task.
There were planters that needed soiling and a path that needed leveling.
Forkinโ Hell
As we gathered around the compost heap that needed clearing out and the good soil moved to the planters, Keith spotted something moving as he ploughed his fork into the heap! At first we thought it was a snake! But then as another one appeared we realized they were slow worms.
That was enough for Sandy and I to quickly take on the leveling task whilst Keith, Jen and Zoe wheely enjoyed the compost moving planter filling task.
Hard Kaurโs
Abdul soon joined us and was helping the hard Kaurโs Sandy and me with removing layers of carpet and mesh and a few weeds from the path. Our task was to clear the path as best we could so that the plot user who has mobility issues could safely tend to their plot. We actually managed to do it much to our own surprise!
Within 45 minutes we had done as much as we possibly could, so we finished off with a group photos and yummy apple pies. Keith hit the jackpot with fresh beetroot! Just cant beet this task location
Well done to everyone for their efforts.

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Tonight we were back at Vale Road Cemetery clearing Ivy, weeds and litter.
We mostly met at the task but Mandy dumped the tools and ran up to walk Jenni from the Binoy.
We had a quick chat, saw what we had to do, put on some chilled classical music in keeping with our surroundings and set to work.
Jenni started with some litter picking before coming over to join Zoe, Marilyn, Mandy and Didem on the far side.
Lots of graves had been covered in ivy and we needed to try and do some preventative measures before it crept over more of the memorial stones.
Marilyn took some higher areas with the loppers. The others took the lower levels.
We had a nice chat about a variety of things while we pruned and tugged away at the Ivy. It was a lovely calm task so after we had tidied up and taken the selfie it was time for the activity cards to energise us for home.
Three rounds of pick a card hopping, standing abs, squats and other quick fitness before saying our goodbyes with the Windsor curtsy and bow ๐
Thank you all for coming x โฅ

This evening we were back out at the allotments helping Home Start Berkshire East with their Slough Womens Allotment Project.
It was great to have Zoe back for her 3rd session and to see Sandy after a little break.
Zoe, Sandy and I met at the top of Shaggy Calf Lane and did a walk/run to the allotments and Pam met us directly there.
Our task was to turn over the soil and remove as many weeds as we could.
At first glance the soil looked very dry and we thought allota effort was going to be needed, but actually most the soil was relatively soft which made the task easier.
With lots of chats of slugs and bugs and how best to remove them in the most eco friendly way - you really do learn allot at a GoodGym session.
Within 45 minutes we had nearly turned over the whole bed and it was time to pack up and head off - Weed done it!
Next week we are helping The Ujala Foundation with their garden space.
