Litter blights our streets, parks and beaches and costs us millions of pounds to clear up every year. Keep Britain Tidy is here to inspire people to eliminate litter now and for future generations.
This is about more than simply getting people to pick up litter. We aim to change behaviour permanently by spotlighting the problem daily and offering creative solutions.
We work with people, businesses, local authorities and government to educate, innovate and inspire - improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep.
76 GoodGymers have supported Keep Britain Tidy with 57 tasks.

A pleasant warm evening, though still a little deceptively chilly, bought 5 Goodgymmers together in town for a good old fashioned litter picking. In a familiar route we snapped up the usual gallery of cigarette butts, drinks bottles and tissues. There was also a plastic lump we declared as likely not Roman era, plus a metal rack Louise insisted on calling a weapon.
Much litter collected in all, plus some nice chat and much to look forward to in the coming months, thats what Tuesdays are all about!

Chilly evenings are here, so after meeting at the theatre for another Goodgym task we quickly set about gathering some trash to keep warm. Some chat about upcoming birthday parties, vaping and the weird logic of people throwing full cans of RedBull in the street, but a time well spent and some good done, as agreed by a passing pizza delivery lady.
Join us for a bunch of upcoming tasks in November!!

This evening we found a few surprising things that people had dumped, fly-tipped and tossed into the bushes around Abbey Fields. Along with the usual wrappers, bottles, dog poo in bags and take away cartons we cleared up an iron - but an armchair and a set of pots and pans were to big for our sacks unfortunately.

Five goodgymers headed out in the darkening twilight to make Colchester a bit cleaner. Five bags of rubbish collected including a very wet shoe!
Hoping our litterpicking efforts encourage a tidier population!
Well done goodgymers, our first session in our new community led format. It's a team effort, come join us!

Collected five bags of rubbish in total - helping the wildlife and green spaces to breathe a little. Lots of odd items, but plenty of the usual suspects. Spotted a few butterflies, a great tit and some ducks on the river.

Famous Five go down to the river...
We gathered at the Mercury for the task brief from Tav, and a quick discussion about running news. Bob is planning ahead for next year's half marathon, so if you're also considering it - you'll be in good company! We took a meandering route this evening, taking in a sweep past the college, a duck under the tunnel, a poke along the river and a rummage in the bracken. Notable finds on our litter pick included two socks, numerous drinks cans and bottles, vaping paraphernalia, cigarette butts a plenty and a plastic spoon. Join us next time for fun, fitness and doing good!
