It was our monthly date at Leagrave Park and two Goodgymers joined the Friends of Leagrave Park for the litter pick. What we lacked in numbers we made up for with enthusiasm and we were soon wombling in the woodlands and playing fields clearing up cans, bottles and all sorts of litter, and getting a lovely walk into the bargain. Fortunately there was less litter than we usually find so maybe people are starting to take their rubbish home with them.

We welcomed some new faces to Goodgym this week, with Aiman, Abdulrahman and Abdullah joining the team.
Our task for the evening involved running all the way up the hill through Capability Green to the big "Welcome to Luton" gravel sign that welcomes drivers from the motorway. We were there to pull out the weeds and tidy up the lettering to make sure it all looks neat and tidy.
With light fading fast under the thick clouds we worked rapidly to make our improvements and when done, moved on to a quick breathing exercise in Stockwood Park, ran a lap of the rugby pitch, and then descended down the hill back into town to call it a night ๐

The GoodGymers joined up with the team at Peoples Park for the monthly litter pick. Despite the warm weather (which usually means more litter) the overall haul wasnโt as much as expected!
However we did find some litter pick firsts during todayโs task! A whole BBQ complete with utensils AND a full tray of meat ๐คฃ, we also stumbled across a toy doll and a Halloween pumpkin outfit, all a bit creepy when put together.

We teamed up with Friends of Leagrave Park for our monthly litter pick. Thank you to Pastor Charmaine, Martin, Dave and Omar, plus other members of the community, we managed to make the park that bit prettier. Amongst the haul was a particular tortoise, a โmessageโ in a bottle and the famous drum kit.
Letโs hope that the tortoise is still breathing, wherever he may be.

On a lovely warm summer evening as the sun settled down in the sky this band of Goodgymers made their way by biking running and walking to the Riverside Meadow beside New Bedford Road. Welcoming Chrisshane and Omayemi to their first Group Run. ๐๐ป
Our mission for this evening was a familiar one, uproot all the Goldenrod. We've met this plant before which is invasive and trying to take over on this meadow, but it's back to test us again. It is noticeably thinner than in previous years, a good sign that we are winning, and there was a good mixture of native plants in the gaps we have cleared.
So we got stuck in and started pulling at the clumps. We made good progress and managed to clear about half of the field before our time was up. We'll be back soon to finish the job!
