Doo-ing a Deep Clean!

Wednesday 25th June

Written by Jade

Tonight, the team took on a deep-cleaning mission at Merton's Community Fridge! While the physical job of removing the partition wall didn't quite make the cut due to issues with fixings, this was probably a blessing.

After being briefed by Anelisa on what to doo, we cracked through as much as possible in the time available. Fridges were shifted, heavy crates and boxes were moved, and every single nook and cranny was cleared and cleaned. With 6 Goodgymmers in such a small space it was a pretty hot work out and the challenge was getting it all back in the right place afterwards. But thanks to the commitment to getting the job done we completed the task and even had time to enjoy a drink (of water) in return for our efforts. Well done team!

Chillaxing with a clean Fridge

Wednesday 18th June

Written by Jade

Plenty of good vibes at Merton's Community Fridge for the clean-up session today as we took it slow and a little chilled despite the heat! We got off to a great start, working through cleaning various boxes while the distribution team was still wrapping up. We even found time to rinse out the food containers. Then extra hands arrived to help with the various rubbish and recycling piles, not to mention the numerous crates. Everything was sparkling clean and properly tidied and even refilled, ready for the next round!

Cool work at the Fridge

Wednesday 11th June

Written by Jade

Our regular visits helping with the post distribution clean-up are making a difference week by week. Today was a perfectly warm evening, ideal for getting an extra pair of hands along (thank you Steve!) after work to help. Peter and Rhian were also there following the distribution to help with sorting the crates outside, giving the fridges a proper clean, and cleaning/tidying boxes. Once hoovered we made sure everything was back in it's place ready for the next distribution.

There was just time for Steve to firm up details for helping at a distribution session later this month - and we are back for the group session on Wednesday 25th June to deep clean the storage area and help remove a partition wall, so sign up and get involved if you can: Https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/help-with-deep-cleaning-at-merton-s-community-fridge

Binning the rubbish and bagging the bread

Wednesday 4th June

Written by Jade

Rufu and Steve arrived to join Jade at Merton's Community Friday to lend a hand with the clean up after a busy distribution session. There was plenty of boxes to clean and rubbish to sort into the relevant piles and then take out to the larger bins. There was also time to re-organise some of the crates until the rain came but the main jobs were completed within the hour and the team were on their way with loaves of bread.
