Team GG headed out to Lakeside today to help and partake in parkrun.
We had people in the car park, marshaling and dancing. Some say to entertain the arriving runners, others say to try and increase their temperatures from below zero.
The course was a mix of pink and red as we headed out and marshalled and cheered.
Jen also added to the good doing by shouting out "Pole!!!" and "Keep Left!" to ensure all runners were safe. She continued this in the queue for pistol run coffee by bellowing out names of orders as the staff made them.

Tokens were handed out and sorted. Cars were marshalled into their bays.
And another bumper crowd of runners and walkers made their way around the lake before heading off home.

The finish was set up, the marshalls were in place, everyone was being directed to park in the right spots....and then the council arrived with a generator to pump out the swollen lake. So there was now a huge obstacle alongside the puddles in the course. Cue a last minute decision for the first time run director! to revert to a course previously used at the other end of the compound and a mad dash to get everyone sorted!
Great job by all GG-ers with their roles today! Parkrun can't run without volunteers and we were certainly needed today! And a far better run report than I can do has been finished by our mini GG creative!

We welcomed Bristol AA Melanie along for a bit of GoodGym Tourism at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun this morning. It was lovely to meet you in real life!!
Arriving early, myself and Dave started our volunteering as Car Park Marshals. I got a bit carried away with marshalling people in and nearly forgot to head to the Start - particularly important if you're Timekeeping!!
Team GG covered all of the walking roles this morning, with Melanie and Dave as parkwalkers and Val supporting a 71 year old lady to a new PB as a Tailwalker.
Yvonne joined me at the Finish Funnel handing out tokens. Yvonne also helped sort the tokens at the end whilst we had a chat and a coffee on Starbucks after.
