X Markfields the Spot!

Leicester Report written by Leicester runner

The famous five plus two Beaumont Runners met and delivered leaflets advising residents about the up and coming Markfield 10km on the 29th September.

There were some quirky post boxes on the route.

A beautiful morning for the task and an added bonus with Nick bringing Angel cakes for the Goodgym angels !

Thanks Nick and well done everyone.

Spick and span @no. 44

Leicester Report written by Sarah

6 Goodgymmers came along to today's task down the canal at Bede Lock 44, a beautiful location for a sunny day, how lucky were we!

Today's task was cutting back the vegetation along the tow path with Rich from the Canal and River Trust. With all his tools and life jackets we were very well equipped for the job. After our safety briefing we were on our merry way passing the rats and on to the tow path.

Everyone got stuck in, Nick tackling a self seeded budleah growing along the path and other weeds along the edge. Our newest member Samir came back for his second Good deed, weldone Samir fantastic efforts, especially speed walking to the task.

Jimmy cycled, Dawn walked, Sarah and Stu saved their legs for racing half marathon's on Sunday, Sarah's in York and Stu's in Wales, good luck both and weldone all.

Poolsbrook parkrun 250 celebrations

Leicester Report written by Sarah

8 Goodgymmers ran around the 3 lap course at Poolsbrook parkrun to celebrate Sarah's 250th parkrun. It's taken Sarah 13 years to reach 250, parkrun started off the love of running and it's actually where she first heard about GoodGym.

Everyone enjoyed the run and lovely cafe to enjoy hot drinks and amazing lemon running biscuits baked by Ashley.

Great to be joined by GoodGym Derby friends of Leicester Goodgymmers, Gwyn and Tracy who gave Sarah a perfect gift a barcode key ring so she can never forget her barcode.

Fantastic running by everyone such a fantastic event to enjoy together, everyone gave it their best, everyone put so much effort in to the occasion to make it a morning to remember.

Cleanimg up at the Castle Gardens

Leicester Report written by Nick Pryke

Four Goodgymmers met to litter pick the Castle Gardens. This was Samir's first event, welcome Samir. This is a tidy, well kept site. But we soon found plenty of cans, bottles, vapes and the usual rubbish amongst the undergrowth along the paths Stu found a stash of new, sealed, water bottles spread around in the bushes. Then a bottle of Radox shower gel. Then a bath sponge and a pair of shoes. We think Stu found the bathroom. We then went up many steps to the mound where the original wooden castle stood 1,000 years ago. Plenty of cans in the bushes here plus a bag of ants. It was soon midday and we piled the bags by a bin for the photo and walked back along the canal to our meeting place.
