One, Two, Tree Go

There were so many tree puns tonight that they will have to be scattered through the report...

We welcomed Jen to GoodGym tonight for her first run with us. Another medic to add to our collection, but hopefully we won't need to make use of her skills any time soon! Thanks to Amanda for bringing her along.

We started outside with a quick warm up of "over and under". Team A were mega quick at passing the gloves down the line - very impressive. Team B must've just been taking it treesy!

Treesy does it

We then headed off to Baffins Pond to meet up with 2 members of the Baffins Pond Association. They had lots and lots of trees planted 2 years ago and needed help exposing the soil around the trees and then adding bark / mulch around the bottom of them to help them grow. Mulch ado about nothing? Vikki named her first tree Frank, Jo called hers Olive. By the time we'd finished there were many named trees, more with their bark added and some who had been freed from their corsets / gastric bands.

There is more to be done with the trees and plenty more mulch to be spread so we will be back again soon.

GG Portsmouth News

  • Tim got a parkrun PB last weekend
  • Maura and Judy ran their fastest 5ks at Great Run Local on Sunday
  • Laura is off to the Houses of Parliament next Wednesday to sit on a select committee for active travel and maybe sort out Brexit while she's there.
  • The GoodGym Portsmouth 1st birthday party has been booked.

Another great night and good deed done with lots of enthusiasm. Well done everyone! See you on Saturday or next week, don't forget there's the option to leave a little earlier as it's a longer run!
