Firstly, a massive thank you to Rob Piggott from Believe & Achieve who took us out for a social kayak as a thank you to us for our community work. We even managed a good deed - Angela fished out an old Stella can and Jo found a bit of plastic bobbing about in the water.
We were all definitely out of our normal sport comfort zone and Tony showed off his paddling skills learnt from taking his pupils to the Andrew Simpson Trust Watersports Centre every week. He also did an excellent demonstration of how to get back into the kayak after accidentally dunking yourself in the briny!
The wind was quite strong & there was a regatta on at the sailing club so we headed north to the creek to try and get some shelter.... it didn't work so well as the wind was cutting across but we had a game out there where we tied all the boats together to form a big circle. No one fell in!
We then headed back under the bridge for a game of plunger "it", lots of throwing around of balls and various formations lining up or forming a wonky circle. Sam impressed us all by walking the line of all the kayaks without falling in, she's got the yoga strength and stretch for sure!
2 hours passed by in a flash and we headed back to shore, all looking very salty. Good effort by all. Thanks to Louisa & Angela for the photos.
Thanks again to Rob. Check out all the upcoming races and events on Rob's website & follow Dawn's sunset kayak on Facebook if you fancy hiring out a kayak on a Tuesday or Thursday (season is almost done for this year mind you!).
