What happens when three brilliant community groups join forces? Magic - and a much tidier Lakenham Way!
As well as this, Task Force member Rebecca completed her 200th Good Deed what a hero!!
Today, four energetic GoodGym members teamed up with Wild Lakenham and the Lakenham & Town Close Green Spaces group for a scrub-clearing mission on the railway sidings at the bottom of Lakenham Way - that lovely traffic-free route into Norwich city centre.
The plan: Meet at 10. Get stuck in. The result: By midday, the transformation was incredible!
Trees and shrubs? Gone. Bramble roots? Dug out. Bushes? Cut right down. The bank? Trimmed to perfection (thanks to Roger the Scyther and those trusty hand shears!).
And that’s not all - the team collected heaps of rubbish revealed after recent cutbacks. Among the cans, bottles and crisp packets were some surprises… a tractor and a pregnancy test! (Yes, really.)
This collaboration is extra special because Wild Lakenham owes its very beginnings to GoodGym’s support and networking. Rob played a key role - even giving us our name! So, from everyone at Wild Lakenham: a huge thank you to GoodGym for helping us grow and thrive.
Here’s to more joint adventures and greener spaces for Norwich!

It was a brisk Sunday morning after a sharp frost, but it didn't stop lots of people turning out in Lakenham to help create thriving habitats for lizards.
We welcomed Danni who was taking part in her first GoodGym session.
There were also two other community groups helping at the task: Wild Lakenham and LTC.
The majority of people where cutting back brambles and other areas, while some others did a litter pick.
The morning was finished off with some lovely, well earned refreshments.

We had a last minute change of task but it still an amazing evening.
Thanks to Rose for coming up with the idea and Beks for accommodating us.
20 of us (plus some extra locals) visited Wild Lakenham to help clear and cut back an overgrown public pathway.

Eloise joined the rest of Wild Lakenham to help on the Orchard project, sorting out the newly laid hedging area, and pulling nettles under the tree to help them get a lovely grass orchard.

Tonight 12 GoodGymers & 1 dog ran 5km to help clean up the Lakenham Way.
When we arrived Bek handed us each litter pickers and bin liners, and directed us in pairs to the areas most in need of a tidy up.
Amongst the finds this week were a discarded umbrella, a bike tire and a used homework book!
After 45 mins we had filled 9 bin bags ready to be collected, before we made our way back to the Forum.
Shout out to Elizabeth who celebrated her big birthday with her 150th Parkrun last week, and also Alina who will be running her 200th Parkrun this weekend!
